Can Moss Make Millions For Mango?

January 27th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

So Kate Moss is Mango‘s new muse for SS12.

An interesting choice we think. Past models have included Penélope Cruz and her sultry sister, Mónica; Milla Jovovich, Eva Herzigova, Scarlett Johansson, Isabeli Fontana… And now Kate Moss. How very British for a brand with such Continental spirit. Could it be the impending London 2012 Olympic Games has drawn Mango to our very own London model? Could Mango be onto a winner? After all, Kate sells. Remember the Vivienne Westwood pirate boots? The £2.99 Superdrug bag? Alexander McQueen’s skull scarf?

We’ve always loved Mango for its Mediterranean fashion at glorious prices. Now they’ve enlisted Kate to launch their SS12, slightly sixties, urban collection, we’re still intrigued. Have a peek at the TV commercial, entitled Spy Game, shot by Terry Richardson, to be screened in March. We’re sold. Are you?

How To Be Sale Savvy

January 3rd, 2012 § Leave a Comment

Happy new year! At last it’s 2012, the year of the London Olympics. So, it doesn’t take much thought to work out the ‘Sports Luxe’ trend will be bigger than ever… With this in mind, here’s how to sail through the sales without barmy buying – By that we mean, you buy it, it stays in the wardrobe until you: a. lose a few pounds, b. get it adjusted or c. go to a fancy dress party as a super hero. That’s when you know you’ve been sale seduced. Instead try our shopping tips…

The future's bright, the future's tangerine tango.

Find all-season staples such as…

  1. White shirt
  2. Blazer
  3. Hi-top trainers
  4. Striped tee
  5. Dress – LBD or LWD
  6. Driving gloves
  7. Sporty Bag – Duffel!
  8. Jeans
  9. Maxi skirt
  10. Hareem joggers

Colours to seek out:

  1. Pale metallics, like muted gold and silvery blue
  2. Neon pastels – Think sherbet as seen at Marni
  3. Tangerine tango – According to Pantone and Matthew Williamson
  4. French navy – You can’t do cruise wear without it!
  5. White
  6. Green – Sage, emerald, menthol – They all work for spring/summer

Fabrics to flaunt…

  1. Jersey – Little ironing needed
  2. Silk – Cool and minimal creasing for summer holidays
  3. Lace – but no catsuits!
  4. Suede
  5. Leather – Better to buy at cut price!

And stay away from…

  1. Reindeer jumpers – So last season…
  2. Satin – Sweat and regret!
  3. Cheap cotton items – They take ages to iron so you’ll rarely wear them
  4. Anything similar to something you already have unless you’re replacing it. Think before you buy!

Fashion to look forward to…

Besides Sports Luxe, vintage lovers will be pleased to know the Twenties are back in the form of drop-waist dresses, gold and feathers thanks to Gucci. We’ll also be loving the Safari/Amazon warrior vibe à la Michael Kors by showing our appreciation for khaki, animal print and more feathers… Roll on spring summer!
